Six out of 10 people worry about contracting a food-borne illness whey they eat out, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans. The survey, conducted on behalf of the Hepatitis Foundation International (HFI), found that more than a quarter of those surveyed had changed their restaurant or take-out food joint because of news about food-borne outbreaks. Those who personally know someone who has contracted Hepatitis A from eating out are twice as likely to change the location of where they dine.

A whopping 78% of Americans say they would be more likely to patronize a restaurant where the food service workers have been vaccinated against food-borne diseases.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 40 million Americans get sick and about 80,000 die each year from hand- and airborne bacteria such as hepatitis.
