Here are a couple of options you may be able to include in your daily regimen.

Green Tea
Research released from Penn State found that green tea extract, in combination with exercise, will burn greater amounts of body fat and reduced overall fat in study mice by 27 percent and 36 percent of belly fat. It also reduced the insulin resistance by 65 percent which will also reduce weight gain and body fat. (1)

Red Pepper and Capsaicin
Capsaicin is the chemical from which hot peppers get their heat. Foods made with these spicy peppers can burn up to an additional 20 calories per day. However, because they are so hot, it is difficult to eat enough to get the effect. Research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found another option in pill form that will increase your metabolic rate by approximately 50 calories per day. (2)

Ginger
In an initial pilot study in 2012, researchers found that 2 grams of ginger in hot beverage both increased thermogenesis or burning of great calories per hour. Interestingly, ginger will also reduce your perceived feelings of hunger and make you feel satisfied longer. (3)

Vitamin D
Vitamin D has many different health effects, only one of which is to reduce insulin resistance and reduce the potential for diabetes. When you have low levels of vitamin D it will increase the amount of parathyroid hormone in the body. High levels of parathyroid is associated with weight gain. Thus maintaining normal vitamin D can help your weight loss efforts. (4,5)
