When it comes to winning the battle of the bulge, both being active and eating right are equally critical components. Getting fit and staying fit depend on consistency and regularity.  It’s particularly crucial if you are trying to lose weight or reduce body fat. A regular and consistent exercise regimen not only helps take it off, it helps keep it off.

Check this out.

Scientists at the University of Colorado Denver monitored the effects of regular exercise in obese rats. The rats had lost 17% of their weight by a calorie-restricted, low-fat diet. Researchers there found that regular exercise helped prevent weight regain after weight loss. They also noted a reduction in appetite and found improvements in energy balance, fuel utilization, and nutrient availability.1

In another study, consistent exercise following weight loss was shown not only to enhance fat burning, but also reduce the formation of new fat cells. In addition, it suppressed the appetite.  Exercise signals a feeling of fullness to the brain. In turn, this process helps minimize overeating. The findings were published in the American Journal of Physiology.2

So, what does that mean to those wanting to lose weight or body fat?

Being active and eating right go hand-in-hand. When you eat healthy and increase your physical activity, physiological changes occur in the body. One of the most useful is increased metabolism. Your body uses fat more efficiently for energy. A faster metabolism means more energy throughout the day. And, it allows you to do more physical work with less effort.

Both healthy eating and healthy exercise are needed to win the battle of the bulge.
