Weight loss is a struggle that faces many and, unfortunately, most of the diets and exercise programs that are available lack spunk or interest. Most people find the idea of dieting boring and bland. Others believe that exercise is either boring or it’s too strenuous.
But there is a fun was to lose weight and trim fat around the core muscles that doesn’t involve crunches or racing up hills. Huffing and puffing to the Oldies isn’t as appealing to some as it is to others. And while there is an exercise for everyone there is one that often overlooked because of the link to childhood activities.
After all, we don’t usually play tag or hide-and-go-seek with our friends so considering other childhood toys may not have entered the realm of possibilities. But using the Hula Hoop is fun, exercises core muscles and helps you to burn calories and lose weight.
There are lots of good reasons to incorporate exercise into your weight loss routine. Those reasons include decreased amount of perceived stress, elevated mood (feeling happy), lower blood pressure, decreased risk of heart attack, stroke and immune mediated diseases such as diabetes, decreased problems with anxiety, panic and anger, lowered risk of osteoporosis, obesity, breast cancer and colon cancer.
And that list is not all inclusive! That means that there are many more benefits to exercise. But if you don’t like what you’re doing then you won’t do it. The act of reducing the level of stress you experience each day is enough to help you both decrease your risk of disease and also improve your chances of losing weight. People who are stressed are more likely to eat more to comfort themselves. And we know that by increasing calories each day you’ll be gaining weight – not losing it.
Using a Hula Hoop has several benefits:
- You can do it in the house where no one has to see you learning to use the hoop.
- It is very cost effective.
- You only have to buy one – unless you want them in a variety of colors!
- It’s fairly silent so you can watch television or listen to the radio while doing it.
The Hula Hoop also improves the flexibility and motion of the core muscles in the body. These muscles are the ones around the hips and waist. Because you are exercising those muscles, plus those in your upper legs, you are improving the look of your abdominal muscles, buttocks, hips and thighs – all trouble areas for most men and women.
Imagine the jealous stares of your girl friends when you are moving into smaller and smaller pant sizes. But you aren’t just losing weight you also have a strong and sexy core muscle group. Your clothes fit well and you’re having fun getting that way!
